They are nothing more than a reflection on life, fame, fortune, and death, under the prism of Christian resignation; but they also end up being a hymn to life in the midst of the 15th-century tradition of death. Inspired by the classical medieval precedents of the genre and in Ecclesiastes, they also contain allusions to the recent history of Castile and even to events in which the author himself may have been present.
