Fuqua has a PhD in Cultural and Critical Studies from the University of Pittsburgh and is an associate professor of media history and theory in the Department of Media Studies at Queens College. Fuqua is also the director of the Women and Gender Studies Program at Queens College. Their first monograph \u003ci\u003ePrescription TV: Therapeutic Discourse in the Hospital and at Home\u003c\/i\u003e was published in 2012 by Duke University Press. Fuqua is an internationally recognized scholar who has served on the board of the international feminist media collective, \"Console-ing Passions\" and is currently a member of the editorial board of \u003ci\u003eWSQ\u003c\/i\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cb\u003eRed Washburn\u003c\/b\u003e is the author of the academic monograph \u003ci\u003eIrish Women's Prison Writing: Mother Ireland's Rebels, 1960-2010s\u003c\/i\u003e as well as the poetry collections \u003ci\u003eCrestview Tree Woman\u003c\/i\u003e and \u003ci\u003eBirch Philosopher X\u003c\/i\u003e.
