He has served as president of the Fishing Outfitters Association of Montana and chairman of both the Northern Plains Resource Council and Western Organization of Resource Councils. He is also a lifelong member of both Trout Unlimited and the Federation of Fly Fishers. He co-authored Tying and Fishing the West's Best Dry Flies.
