Description
Speak to The Mountain is the second book in the series: Tales of The Soul. Although written in a different poetic style, thematically, this book picks up where the first book in the series, A Million and One Stories to Tell, left off. Partially inspired by the events following the murder of George Floyd, Speak to The Mountain confronts issues surrounding historical systemic racism and oppression of the African Diaspora. With the help of three archetypical figures; The African, The Stranger, and The Poet; the reader is taken on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and reconciliation.
Speak to The Mountain is a book of poetry meant to be read from cover to cover, from beginning to end in order for the thematic message to be understood. Rather than focusing on stories, this book focuses on theme. Although, Babylon fell at the end of A Million and One Stories to Tell, the more sinister stronghold depicted as mountains remain, and like Babylon are animated by the same evil beings. The metaphor of the mountain depicts powerful dark forces in our world, historical racism stemming from imperialism, the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, and the more sinister spiritual forces of Satan and his kingdom that animate the evil of the material world. Each poem builds upon one another to make up a thematic whole and leads the reader from darkness to light.
