Bishop Johnson was raised a Jehovah's witness, and left that religion in July 1974, at the age of twenty-three. He accepted Christ as his Savior In November 1974, preached his First Sermon on the Third Sunday in April 1975; and was duly ordained on the Second Sunday in April 1978. He was consecrated to the Bishopric on August 4, 2006.
