Description

This is the story about the early beginnings of rock 'n' roll in England and the arrival of The Beatles in Hamburg where they first met Tony Sheridan. They began working with him, backing Tony on their first hit record - 'My Bonnie' which sold over a million copies in America. Brian Epstein later asked Tony to return with The Beatles to England and continue working with them. Tony declined the offer and The Beatles went on to make history. The author was with Tony Sheridan in the 'Jets' from the very beginning in London, and later with him in the 'Star Combo' - the resident band at the 'Star Club'. Many other great British and American bands visited and performed at this club in Hamburg during the 60's. Tony and the band played alongside or toured with many of them including: Gene Vincent, Chubby Checker, Ray Charles, Little Richard, Tommy Rowe, Brenda Lee, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Kingsize Taylor, Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, Joey Dee and the Starliters and the weird and astonishing Screaming Lord Such. This is the story about those incredible times.
