The story black girl with attitude is a journey shared by two very different people. A white middle class English teacher on the brink of crossing a boundary and calling herself a racist; and a young black girl at a crossroads. She must battle to escape poverty and violence or surrender to it. Both women one young the other entering middle age and ostensibly with different lives engage in an emotional battle that finally ends in a surprising discovery about each other. They will forever be bound together and changed; one is healed and the other sacrifices herself for love.
