A recovery program based on eight Beatitudes principles: 1. I recognize that I am not God. I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do wrong and that my life is unmanageable. "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:3) 2. I sincerely believe that God exists, that He cares about me, and that He has the power to help me in my recovery. "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." (Matthew 5:4) 3. I consciously decide to commit my entire life and will to Christ's care and control. "Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth." (Matthew 5:5) 4. An openness to self-examination and confession of my faults to God and to someone I trust. "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God." (Matthew 5:8) 5. So that God can make changes in my life, I willingly submit to Him and humbly ask Him to remove my character defects. "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled." (Matthew 5:6) 6. I evaluate all my relationships. I offer forgiveness to those who have wronged me and make amends for the harm I have caused others, except when doing so would harm them or others. "Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy." (Matthew 5:7) 7. I set aside daily time with God for self-evaluation, Bible reading, and prayer in order to know God and His will for my life and to gain the power to follow it. "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." (Matthew 5:9) 8. By surrendering my life to God to be used, I can carry this Good News to others, both by my example and by my words. "Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:10)
