Descripción

Following the success of Los años extraordinarios and Verbolario, Rodrigo Cortés is back with a new collection of stories.

"Playfulness and memory rule here. Life's enigmas that we cannot see, hidden behind what we can. In these fabulous tales, the exceptional and the oneiric overtake reality with a melancholy humor, or vice versa, like a solemn child at a birthday party."-Pilar Adón

Earthly Tales is either an anthology of stories on the verge of fantasy, or a collection of stories that are just barely magical. Wise sultans, lizardmen, smart little girls, characters trapped inside other characters, letters from the future, crop circles, erupting volcanoes, quantum declarations of love, cats, abductions, giant squid, fables with no moral, invisible emanations from Earth's core ... Rodrigo Cortés again shows that if reality and magic are not the same thing, at his hands they are at least indistinguishable.

About the Author
Rodrigo Cortés wanted to be a painter, writer, and musician; today he does it all at once by dedicating himself to cinema. He has worked with actors of the caliber of Robert de Niro, Sigourney Weaver, Cillian Murphy, Ryan Reynolds, and Uma Thurman. As a writer, he published A las 3 son las 2, a collection of antiaforismos, delirios y bombas de mano, at the end of 2013, and, a year later, Sí importa el modo en que un hombre se hunde, his first novel. In 2016, his new book of short stories, Dormir es de patos, appeared, and in 2021 he published Los años extraordinarios, his second novel. He writes the section Verbolario, a satirical dictionary that inspired his fifth book of the same title, for the newspaper ABC, and regularly writes on its third page. He talks about cinema, literature, and music on Aquí hay dragones and Todopoderosos, the two most listened-to podcasts of the moment. Cuentos telúricos is his first anthology of short stories and his sixth book.
