Follow the history of the early church and the leaders who were head and part of the Christianity movement with the Course of Theology of the Church Fathers, a compilation from the Apostles of Christ to the Fathers of the Eastern Church.
Crafted in a chronological structure, the author divides the content into:
- Apostolic Fathers. It gathers the life and work of the first Christians, from the first century A.D. to the end of the second century A.D., called apostolic and protagonist of the first church, who are privileged witnesses of the emergence and theology of Christianity, which shows from the beginning a great freedom.
- Apologist Fathers. The work of the first theologians strictly speaking, from the end of the second century to the middle of the third century A.D., who wrote in Greek (Justin, Irenaeus...), except Tertullian, who wrote in Latin.
- Alexandrian Fathers. Coptic/Egyptian church (3rd-4th centuries A.D.). They were the first strict theologians in dialogue with Greek thought (starting with Clement of Alexandria and Origen).
- Syriac Fathers. Eastern Church (4th-5th centuries A.D.). Along with the Alexandrians (and in contrast to them) are the Eastern Fathers, more specifically those from Syria.
- Latin Fathers (3rd-7th centuries A.D.). They were more interested in questions of morality and the legal-administrative organization of the Church than in topics of strict theology or exegesis of the Bible.
- Late Latin Patristics (8th-12th centuries A.D.). In a restricted sense, patristics ends with the development of Celtic monasticism and the Carolingian reform or renaissance (between the 8th and 9th centuries A.D.).
- Late Greek Patristics (8th-14th centuries A.D.), includes the last Fathers of the Eastern Church, whose first stage culminates in the great thinkers of the 7th and early 8th centuries (Dionysius the Areopagite, Maximus, John of Damascus).
