«I have a rabbit between my legs. It's black. I call him Roberto, but he could be called Ignacio or even Carla, but I call him Roberto because he's shaped like Roberto. He's cute because he's fluffy and sleeps a lot. I told my friend Isabel. I said: "Isa, a rabbit recently grew between my legs. Do you have one too?".With the publication of Exquisite Cadaver (Clarín Novel Prize 2017), Agustina Bazterrica achieved two things at the same time: establishing herself as one of the most read and respected Argentine writers worldwide, and transforming the book into an instant classic. This dystopia about an almost inhuman world, which ceaselessly questions our current way of life and raises all kinds of questions about the contemporary, has a history. The author has been writing stories and short tales for many years, which Alfaguara is now reissuing in this volume. Nineteen stories that take us to the heart of our fears, of the most delirious and dark fantasies, and also of the blackest humor. Texts that question love, friendship, family relationships, and unspeakable desires. An absorbing read that confirms a unique style and depth in the panorama of literature in Spanish.ENGLISH DESCRIPTIONA collection of nineteen dark, wildly imaginative short stories from the author of the award-winning TikTok sensation Tender Is the Flesh.
From celebrated author Agustina Bazterrica, this collection of nineteen brutal, darkly funny short stories takes into our deepest fears and through our most disturbing fantasies. In "Roberto," a girl claims to have a rabbit between her legs. A woman's neighbor jumps to his death in "A Light, Swift, and Monstrous Sound," and in "Candy Pink," a woman fails to contend with a difficult breakup in five easy steps.Written in Bazterrica's signature clever, vivid style, these stories question love, friendship, family relationships, and unspeakable desires.
