Descripción
Written during the years when Fyodor M. Dostoevsky (1821-1881) roamed through Europe hounded by his creditors, sick and in need, "The Idiot" (1868) is undoubtedly one of the pinnacles of literature. The novel, whose development revolves around the idea of representing an archetype of moral perfection, features Prince Myshkin -a character of a stature comparable to Raskolnikov from Crime and Punishment or Stavrogin from "Demons"- whose personality, significantly, gives the work its title. An embodiment of all the virtues associated with the Christian spirit, Myshkin, paradoxically, only manages to ruin his own life, along with that of most of those who come to him.
