Descripción

The transport of Black people brought as slaves from Africa to the American continent constituted a systematic act of barbarism and is one of the greatest genocides in the history of humanity.
Upon arriving in San Salvador de Bahía, Black people were often punished and whipped on a post, which was given the name "Pelourinho."
There, some died, others were simply marked forever.
Pelourinhos multiplied like slavery across all latitudes of Brazil.
This book by Marcelo Fabián Monges is a tribute to the memory of the victims and to the resistance of a people who knew how to transform pain into joy, their own blood into an emblem, injustice into conscience for all humanity.
