Descripción

A new novel from the author of Before the Coffee Gets Cold and Tales from the Cafe. An international phenomenon that has already comforted more than three million readers.

Four customers visit a magical Japanese cafe to confront their past and earn a new, hopeful beginning.

In the heart of Hakodate lies an extraordinary place: a small cafe that serves coffee with an intense, enveloping aroma, capable of evoking distant emotions and revisiting a moment from the past.

However, entering this special establishment is not for everyone, and only those who gather the necessary courage can take the risk. This is the case of Yayoi, who, deprived of her parents' affection when she was very young, doesn't believe she can face life with a smile. Or Todoroki, whose successful career didn't give him the opportunity to appreciate the happiness that was always within his reach. Or Reiko, who never got to apologize to her sister and now feels crushed by guilt. Or Reiji, for whom a simple phrase like "I love you" still represents an insurmountable obstacle.

They all wish they could change what was, go back and start again, but erasing the past is not always the best option. What matters, as Kawaguchi conveys in this emotional novel, is to learn from it to build a brighter future.

From the author of Before the Coffee Gets Cold and Tales from the Cafe comes another story of four new customers, each of whom is hoping to take advantage of the cafe's time-travelling offer. Among some familiar faces from Toshikazu Kawaguchi's previous novels, readers will also be introduced to:

A daughter who begrudges her deceased parents for leaving her orphaned
A comedian who aches for his beloved and their shared dreams
A younger sister whose grief has become all-consuming.
A young man who realizes his love for his childhood friend too late

Translated from Japanese by Geoffrey Trousselot and featuring signature heart-warming characters and wistful storytelling, in Before Your Memory Fades, Kawaguchi once again invites the reader to ask themselves: what would you change if you could travel back in time?
