About the Author
Michael McDowell Enterprise, Alabama, June 1, 1950, was a true monster of literature. Endowed with boundless creativity, he wrote thousands of pages, with a capacity on par with a Balzac or a Dumas. Like them, he chose to tell stories that would reach everyone. And, like them, he chose the most popular medium of dissemination: the serial, or serialized novel, in the case of the 19th-century masters; the paperback in McDowell's case. In addition to being a novelist, Michael McDowell was an acclaimed screenwriter. The fruits of his collaboration with Tim Burton were Beetlejuice and The Nightmare Before Christmas, as well as an episode for the series Alfred Hitchcock Presents.
