Readers will be able to appropriately select or design assessment tools to measure learner understanding and growth. As pre-service and in-service school librarians become more fluent with the AASL Standards and more confident in their assessment practices, this text will continue to serve as a guide for building effective lesson plans. A bridge between learner assessment and school librarian practice, this professional guide provides

  • discussions of common assessments used in the school library in the context of the AASL Standards and with an emphasis on growth mindset and personalized learning;
  • competency-based assessment examples situated in learning scenarios that integrate instruction with content areas; and
  • strategies for a variety of settings and learners, including remote and low-tech assessments.
