About the Author
Kara Boniecka's love of finance and markets goes back to her earliest days. She fondly remembers playing "banker" with her stuffed animals and being thrilled at age 7 to be given responsibility to go inside Bell Federal Bank to submit her parents' mortgage payment. As she grew older, she honed her financial acumen through academic rigor. She graduated from Harvard University at age 19 with an AB in applied math with economics. Later, she attended the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania where she obtained an MBA in finance and graduated top 5% in her class. Boniecka has worked for many top financial firms in both financial modeling and systems design capacities. She started her trading career in the grain pits at the CBOT, before moving on to work at a bulge bracket bank and finally at a proprietary trading shop in Chicago. Her background has afforded her a keen focus on risk management and capital appreciation. Since 2010, she has been developing and trading her own automated systems. Her expertise in algorithm development and advanced data sciences techniques has made her the perfect fit for quant/mechanical trading. However, she believes wholeheartedly in a balanced approach that utilizes macro analysis to increase trade performance. It was out of the desire to help others make sense of markets that she wrote this book.
