Built on the "Sustainable Development Goal" number 11, the New Urban Agenda focuses on cities with the objective to assist and guide every country to foster a sustainable urban development. Assuming, that the New Urban Agenda implies solutions for every country's urban challenges this paper examines how and in what extent the document can help Chile to address their urban challenges. After elaborating the most urgent urban challenges in Chile, the second part of this paper analyzed Chile's national urban planning document (National Urban Development Policy) and the New Urban Agenda in order to identify similarities and differences. The purpose of this research was to classify the usefulness of the New Urban Agenda in comparison to the national document.
