One of the more popular hobbies is collecting old stock certificates. The hobby is known as "Scripophily". The word scrip, refers to "a certificate of a right to receive something". Stock certificates are pieces of paper, showing and detailing this right. And some certificates are very colorful and ornate. Collecting stock certificates and old documents is fun and important, it is a piece of history. Too often, we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of work and our busy lives to reflect and remember our roots. Where did we come from? What steps led us to this point in time, right now? Scripophily is one of those studies of history, a moment we can look back and see the past, and maybe even learn something.
