Description
In the early 1970s, Dan Johnson, a college student from a conservative family in Indiana, joins his older brother working for the summer at Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone National Park. The Old Faithful bell crew consists of ten young men with colorful personalities from around the country who live in Bats Alley at the top of the Inn. Dan's summer quickly becomes an exciting mixture of work, socialization and adventure. He and his fellow Savages (co-workers) participate in unusual activities and traditions unique to Yellowstone like hotpotting and Pow Wows. He experiences exhilarating, and sometimes hair raising, adventures in the wilds of Yellowstone and with the Park's diverse wildlife. The reader will find Dan's coming of age journey in Yellowstone National Park interesting, often humorous, sometimes poignant and always entertaining.
