About the Author
Kayla is a Cosmetic Formulator, a Certified, ARC Registered Aromatherapist and the co-Founder of Essential Wholesale and its lab division, Essential Labs. She is a wife and mother of three. She started her company along with her husband, Dennis. In 1998, Kayla started creating products in her kitchen using essential oils and a $50 investment. Over the years Dennis and Kayla turned the profit from their first batch of products into more supplies and repeated the process over and over again, remaining a debt free company. In 2000, Dennis and Kayla started an all-natural aromatherapy based Home Party Plan. In 2002, they changed their business plan and became the distribution and manufacturing company, Essential Wholesale. This was followed by the addition of Essential Labs in 2005. The initial $50 investment from their home kitchen, combined with blood, sweat and prayers, has now become a multi-million dollar organically certified and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) compliant company. Kayla has passionately shared her knowledge of aromatherapy, crafting, business, and formulating. She is the go-to industry specialist for formulating aromatherapy, natural, organic and pure cosmetics and personal care items. She has formulated thousands of products including: mineral make up, skin care, body care, and products for bath, spa, hair, baby, pets, aroma and much more. Through her lab division, Essential Labs, Kayla has formulated private-label personal care products for hundreds of businesses worldwide. Kayla can be found on YouTube where she teaches a variety of do-it-yourself (DIY) recipes for the Essential Wholesale series called "Kitchen Chemistry TV." Kayla's articles can be found in countless industry magazines and blogs. Kayla has been an outspoken advocate for small business owners in the halls of Congress since 2007. Kayla created the Essential U blog, an educational center for aromatherapy, cosmetics, industry standards, and business ownership. She has been an expert on the website Personal Care Truth, Information Based on Scientific Facts, because of her passion to spread science-based factual information about cosmetics and the personal care industry. One of her goals is to help protect small businesses from regulatory interference which may hamper the pursuit of the American dream.
