Description

The Douay-Rheims is a remarkable translation in the history of English Bibles as it was the first complete Catholic translation faithfully translated from the Latin Vulgate by Englishmen who fled persecution to France. The New Testament was completed in 1582 at the town of Rheims, France, followed by the release of the Old Testament in 1609 at the French town of Douay, and thus the name Douay-Rheims. Since then the Douay-Rheims remains the beloved translation for many Catholics to whom this edition is dedicated. The translation was later revised and annotated by bishop Richard Challoner between 1749-1752, whose edition has been since then the standard for all printed editions, although his notes are omitted herein. This edition includes ONLY the New Testament in a relatively larger font size than the commonly used size in Bibles which publishers prefer to use to reduce the bulk of the Bible. It is hoped this edition will satisfies the need of readers who continue to complain about how difficult is to read the Bible with a tiny font size.
