About the Author
Vincent C. Alfonso, Ph.D., is Professor in and Former Dean of the School of Education at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. He also served as Interim Dean of the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University and Professor in and Associate Dean of the Graduate School of Education, Fordham University, New York City. He is past president of Division 16 (School Psychology) of the American Psychological Association (APA), and Fellow of Divisions 16, 5, and 43 of the APA. He is also a Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science. In February 2014, he recieved the Outstanding Contributions to Training award from the Trainers of School Psychologists and in August 2017, he recieved the Jack Bardon Distinguished Service Award from Division 16 of the APA. Dr. Alfonso has published scholarly work for nearly 30 years and most recently co-edited Healthy Development in Young Children: Evidence-Based Interventions for Early Education published by the APA and Psychoeducational Assessment of Preschool Children (Fifth Edition) published by Routledge.

Joseph R. Engler, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor and Director of School Psychology at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. Dr.Engler recieved his B.A. at Minot State University and his Ph.D. at The University of South Dakota. Dr. Engler began his professional career in Tooele, Utah and remains active in the profession through advocacy and leadership at the local, state, and national level. His research interests include preschool assessment, critical evaluation of psychometric tests, and parental involvement.

Andrea D. Turner, PhD is a licensed psychologist and research director for Pearson Clinical Assessment and is a primary developer of cognitive and ability tests including the various Wechsler Scales. She has more than 20 years experience in university clinic, community mental health, private practice, and private agency settings providing individual and group therapy and assessment services for children and young adults. Dr. Turner has provided early childhood mental health consultation to Part C and Head Start Programs and consultation regarding children with developmental disabilities for public schools. She served as president and board member of the Kansas Association for Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health. Her specialties include infant and early childhood mental health consultatin and assessment, and treatment and assessment of developmental disabilities.
