HOW THIS BOOK IS ORGANIZED Grammar Matters is a self-study reference book that consists of 44 topical units and five appendixes. Each unit includes charts, explanation of grammar topics, examples based on the contemporary Bulgarian translated into English. The appendixes include: Verb list by group of conjugation in past simple tense, Reflexive and non-reflexive verb pairs, Word building, List of corresponding verbs in Bulgarian and English, Verb conjugator - Imperfective and Perfective forms. WHO CAN USE THIS BOOK Grammar Matters is a reference book for intermediate students of Bulgarian who speak English. Teachers of Bulgarian will also find this book useful as additional course material. LEVEL Grammar Matters is intended mainly for intermediate students who are familiar with the basic rules of Bulgarian grammar. The book can be used by beginner students working with a tutor who can assist them with identifying the materials appropriate for their level. Advanced learners who still make grammatical mistakes and need to organize their grammar skills will also find some of the topics helpful. WHAT MAKES THIS BOOK UNIQUE The Reference Book can be used by learners without specialized linguistic background and with different levels of language competence as it presents Bulgarian grammar in a systematic way through clear and comprehensive rules and has a focus on the colloquial Bulgarian. Radost Sabeva is a Bulgarian language instructor and cross-cultural facilitator who has been working with a broad range of foreign learners of the Bulgarian language for more than 20 years. She has worked with various embassies and foreign offices in Sofia as well as with individual learners and groups from many countries and nationalities. Radost is a graduate of St. St. Cyril and Methodius University, Veliko Tarnovo and has an MA in Bulgarian Linguistics with a Minor in History. Zhana Zagorova has an MA in Russian Studies from Sofia University and an MBA in Marketing from the City University of Seattle. She also holds a post-graduate certificate for Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Zhana has worked as a lecturer, teacher, and examiner at various universities and language centers in Sofia, Bulgaria where she taught Bulgarian to foreigners, English and Russian to young and adult learners from beginner to advanced levels and facilitated seminars and exams on the cultural history of Bulgaria.
