About the Author
Darryl Littleton began his comedy career writing sketches for "The Tom Joyner Morning Show" on CBS Radio. He became a regular at the Comedy Store with the stage name, "D'Militant" for his slicing and incisive social and political commentary. Darryl landed a job as D. L. Hughley's exclusive writer on BET's "Comic View", where Darryl was promoted to writer/producer and penned material for Cedric the Entertainer, Sommore and Don DC Curry. Darryl's television credits include Robert Townsend's WB sitcom, "The Parent Hood", Townsend's variety show "Townsend Television" for Fox, HBO's "Def Comedy Jam", Comedy Central's "Make Me Laugh", Martin Lawrence's "1st Amendment", Telemundo's "Loco Comedy Jam", Byron Allen's "Comic's Unleashed" and ABC's "America's Funniest People"; he was the Grand Prize Winner. Darryl was also featured in the films, "All Lies on Me" and "Diamond Dawgs". Darryl toured Europe and Asia performing for the US military. In 2002 he released his acclaimed CD, "Am I Lying?!" and was a columnist for "Comedy the Magazine" and "The Humor Mill". In 2006 Darryl won the prestigious Bay Area Black Comedy Competition on its 20th Anniversary and worked as a commentator for NPR immediately following the release of his first book, "Black Comedians on Black Comedy", chronicling the history of African-American comedy. This prestigious work is taught at USC. Robert Townsend adapted the book as a full length documentary, entitled, "Why We Laugh", which made its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in 2009. Darryl served as executive producer. He was also script supervisor, touring host and personal writer for comedian, Katt Williams. Darryl Littleton is the Associate Curator of the Comedy Hall of Fame. In 2011 and 2012 he published 3 books: "Pimp Down: The Rise & Fall of Katt Williams", "Forefathers", the story of the American Revolution told from a black perspective, and "Comediennes: Laugh Be a Lady", which he co-wrote with his wife / comedienne, Tuezdae Littleton. Darryl co-hosted the radio program, "Tuezdae's with D'Militant" (2013), toured the nation as a public speaker and in 2014 Darryl launched his fifth book, "How to Be Funny: The Essential Comedy Handbook"; a tutorial on the art of laughter. That same year Darryl produced "Black & Blue: The Laff Records Collection", a compilation of classic party records from Redd Foxx, Marsha Warfield and more. In 2015 his sophomore album "Too Raw for Mainstream was released.
