Without a doubt the Church needs Deacons. Their role is mainly to be servants. The Church needs Deacons to provide logistical and material support. The PHILIPS version of the Bible says they are "Practical and Spiritually-Minded". When Deacons take their proper place in the Church and become diligent to serve and minister, the Church grows spiritually and increases in number. This is simply because the Apostles are able to focus on prayer, preaching and teaching, also the needy saints are materially catered for with fairness and grace.
