About the Author
Bruce Coggin was raised in Texas and educated at the University of Texas (Austin), Columbia University, the University of Dallas, and Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, where he earned degrees in French, Spanish, British, and American language and literature, as well as theology. He has taught at several Texas colleges, most recently the University of Texas at Arlington and Texas Wesleyan University. He was for ten years Chairman of the Department of Languages at the Universidad de Monterrey, Monterrey, Mexico. Ordained in the Episcopal Church in 1966, he has served congregations in several Texas communities, including Comanche, Hamilton, McKinney, Cleburne, Wichita Falls, Fort Worth, and Austin. In retirement, Coggin has joined other veteran priests of the Diocese of Fort Worth to bring Word and Sacrament to congregations without regular clergy. He was briefly priest in charge of Trinity Parish, Fort Worth, a historical congregation near TCU. Coggin presently lives in Fort Worth where he writes and gardens and enjoys his children and grandchildren.
