Description

The report of Major General John J. Pershing, commander of the expedition into Mexico to "capture Villa and his bandits." Also referred to as the "Pancho Villa Expedition" or the "Mexican Expedition." It was launched against the Mexican insurgent Francisco "Pancho" Villa in retaliation for Villa's attack on Columbus, New Mexico during the Mexican Revolution. The expedition took place from 1916 to 1917. The report is made up of a series of smaller sections submitted to the Commanding general of the Southern Department at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. It is broken into two general sections.
