About the Author
Andrew Drake received his Honours BSC in biology from Queen's University in 1991. In 1997, he received his Masters in Biophysics from the University of Guelph. Drake's interests ranged from molecular biology to ecology. In graduate school, Drake was intrigued by the use of physics concepts to study movement in different parts of the body. In his working life, Drake's passion for math and science has led him to teach middle and high school students, both in the classroom and as a one-to-one educator. Since 2000, his teaching experience has included calculus, data management, general math, biology, chemistry, physics, general science courses, and standardized test preparation. He currently lives and teaches in Toronto. Danielle Van Bakel completed an Honours BA in English in 2004, a Bachelor of Education from Queen's University in 2005, and a Master's degree in English from the University of Toronto in 2009. As an Associate Director of Education at RRLS, Van Bakel taught early literacy programs through to high school English courses and standardized test preparation, helping students reach personal goals in one-to-one and small group settings. As the Head of English and librarian at a Toronto private school, Van Bakel teaches grade 8-12 students in reading, writing, and literature. Van Bakel's love of teaching and passion for great literature have also led her to work as a teaching assistant at the University of Toronto, teach in public school classrooms, write a children's storybook that encourages early literacy skills, and to complete her Master's book-length manuscript under the mentorship of Margaret Atwood. She currently lives and works in Toronto.
