Description
From the INTRODUCTION... For some time I had hoped to find a way to "give back" to Holy Cross Seminary at Notre Dame for an excellent education that went far beyond books. Special thanks must be extended to the Holy Cross teaching Priests and the Sisters of Notre Dame who offered unwavering kindness, caring and understanding to all of us young men. Daily, we students were exposed to individuals "Living the Faith," and demonstrating exactly what the term meant in both the Catholic and Notre Dame traditions. The Priests mentioned herein are as human and down to earth as anyone you'd meet. The stories presented are of everyday events that happened in a highly disciplined environment comprised of tough class schedules, long study halls, and grand silences--where speaking was not allowed, and your only communication was with God. What lightened the load for us young men were the highly dedicated religious. They shared a quality of positive attitude and mutual concern for each of us aspirants. They remain among the giants who have inspired me. I've been asked the question, "Why spend time in your old age writing about people, many long since deceased?" The answer is a simple one. The Priests and Sisters I met at the seminary are at the top of the mark as human beings. Each, in their unique way, has shone a great, un-diminishing light on my path through life. Perhaps the question should be, why aren't there more of us writing about our seminary years and our Priest-leaders? I feel there is no equal to what we experienced in our attempts to be one of the chosen among the many who are called. I dedicate this small collection of cherished memories to all seminarians who have walked with and prospered from the giants. The author
