Description
To help students succeed in learning math, Summit Math books start with simple, foundational concepts and build on those ideas in small steps. Written by a math teacher with 16+ years of classroom experience, this series is designed to help students learn at different paces. Learn more at summitmathbooks.com.
Homeschooling? Supplement the books with a subscription to 30+ hours of step-by-step teaching videos ($9/mo. or $60/yr.). The videos provide direct instruction from an experienced teacher whenever you need additional guidance. Each book is split into 2 parts: 1) Guided Discovery Scenarios, and 2) Homework and Extra Practice Scenarios. The Guided Discovery Scenarios gradually develop new concepts, building on previously learned topics. The Homework and Extra Practice Scenarios improve your understanding and increase your ability to retain what you have learned. Each part has a separate Answer Key, which is included to promote learning. When you finish each scenario, you can check the Answer Key to see if you are ready to move on or if you need more guidance. Book 6 Contents:- Using equations to find an intersection point
- The substitution method
- The elimination method
- When two lines do not intersect at a single point
- Scenarios that involve systems of equations
- Systems of linear inequalities
- More scenarios that involve systems of equations
- Cumulative Review
- Answer Key
Book description:
In this book, students find the intersection point of two lines by looking at their graphs. They then learn that they can find the intersection point by using algebraic methods called substitution and elimination. They use these methods to solve a variety of scenarios that can be modeled by two variables and two equations. They also learn how to graph systems of linear inequalities. Near the end of the book, they analyze a variety of scenarios that involve linear systems, while also getting a preview of nonlinear systems, which is a topic they will learn more about in Algebra 2: Book 6. This book builds on Algebra 1: Book 2.
