Eric, a pragmatic divorce lawyer, has built his career around unsuccessful marriages. He's seen how messy things can get - and has no interest in complicating his orderly lifestyle. Unfortunately, his estranged son is more than willing to pass on a mess of his own.

Blindsided and forced to step in, Eric arrives at the NICU to find the baby suffering from drug withdrawal. He's out of his element. Alarms are ringing, the baby is bawling, and where is the damn nurse?

Adrianna, back from a recent leave of absence, is assigned as Baby Lampert's admitting nurse. Stress in the NICU is expected. Tantrums are commonplace, though usually they are from the babies, and not their attractive guardians.

If only her messy life could be as easily managed - a few cries. and help would come running.

When part of that mess sets her work-life balance off kilter, Eric steps in to protect her - surprising them both. Adrianna begins to see Eric as more than rude, maybe even caring? NO! That can't happen, there are rules. Besides, Eric's only seen the half of it, Adrianna's not ready to share the rest . . . and there's a sweet baby to consider too.
