Los Angeles detectives Richard Tuck and Brigit Estees are called in to investigate the murder of Clare Crone, who has been found unconscious in her living room, beside a bloody poker and a glove. The glove may belong to Ruth Ann Briggs, whose murder Tuck and Estees were unable to solve 6 years before. Sha had been Crone's neighbor. But none of the clues lead anywhere until Brigit's great-uncle, a psychologist and philosopher, lend aid-and they start to close in on the murderer.
