About the Author
Ivan Damico attended a high school run by Carmelite monks in Mundelien, Illinois, where he studied theology and world religions. Afterwards he attended Eastern Illinois University, majoring in Psychology and studying anthropology, photography, journalism, and English. Moving to California, he then started Orange County's first electronic music label. He was soon signed to Astralwerks/ Virgin records, releasing several singles and a full length cd (under an artist name he wishes to keep separate from his author name for reasons listed below). He won the California music awards for electronic artist of the year, as well as being nominated for electronic album of the year at the Bay Area music awards and Dance music artist of the year at the Los Angeles Music Awards. His music has appeared in dozens of television shows, video games, and movies. His road to fame in Hollywood led to years of Heroin addiction, which led to his eventual downfall in the music industry, but also exposed him to the raw, bleeding underground of Los Angeles, which he took to amazingly well, dealing on the streets and switching from celebrities and supermodels as friends to prostitutes, transvestites, gangsters, dopers, cops, and junkies. It took over ten years to shake the addiction and recover. Ivan spent several years living in Bangkok, where he studied Asian religions and philosophies, and went on several retreats in Buddhist monasteries. While researching the histories of world religions, he was inspired by the hypocrisy, mythology, and violence of fundamentalism. This is his effort to bring humanity to a higher state. He lives in Los Angeles with his African Serval 'Nikki', and surfs as often as possible while working on his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science. Ivan has published dozens of electronic music singles and three other books, all under different names. He despises the cult of celebrity, refuses to be photographed, and always has his face hidden in music magazines if being photographed is unavoidable. The belief behind this is that once the person becomes more important than the work, than the work loses its intrinsic value. Therefore he has the greatest respect for people who are reading this particular book now, while it is still relatively unknown. After something becomes popular, it is simply a bastardized version of itself, and once popular with followers of the crowd mentality, is worthless. Be proud of yourself for leading the pack! Hail Satan!
