Trust Only Family is the sequel to They Sleep with the Fishes. In that book we followed Vito and Tony Cosenza from their adolescent years to the eventual vendetta as adults for the murder of their pa. In Trust Only Family we now follow the brothers' high spirited lives as criminals. Vito's cleverness and his disdain for the Feds make him an ideal associate for a Mob Family. Even when the Feds believe they have him trapped he turns the table. After Tony turns from boxing his size and demeanor secures him as a loan shark while his pool skills elevates his success taking money from pigeons. Seeing what his grandsons are into saddens their grandfather and he warns them about the life they have chosen and that they can only trust family. Eventually Tony's boxing career is resurrected in a bizarre bout. Vito's criminal life compromises his future with Gwen and he sees he needs to change. Yet, before they can redirect their lives they must locate the hidden loot left behind by their pa. That is when they learn the irony of trust only family. They discover the person they and their pa trusted most isn't who they thought he was. That man's life is controlled by the Devil. Vito thinks if he creates one last money making scheme the Mob will let him out. But, it back fires, he only raises his importance as a criminal. Just before they go on another journey to recover their pa's stolen loot they discover he also left behind a priceless jewel-the Eye of the Cobra. In the end Vito is challenged again by the Feds. This time the Feds try a new and risky tactic to put him behind bars.
