Description

This post World War II story chronicles the lives of Matt and Rachel Williams as they leave the big City and settle in the suburbs of Long Island, New York. Between the back yard barbecues, and neighborhood get-togethers they encounter those who will become dear friends and loved ones while also being under the threat of someone who is out to destroy their relationship. They experience loss, tragedy, joys and heartaches which become the fabric of the Williams family history. They are exposed to the ugliness of anti-Semitism, and misinterpreted implications. Through it all the story is told by several family members as they "take the microphone" to give the reader their own perspective as the pages turn. Mineola, the icon of a simpler life, with ever present family values, is the Town where the author spent her childhood and which becomes the central figure in this and the upcoming books in the Long Island New York trilogy.

About the Author
A. Louise Robertson grew up in Mineola, New York, one of four children. As a young girl, she was an avid reader who decided after reading Little Women that she and Jo March (aka Louisa May Alcott) had a lot in common. Ms. Robertson decided that she too would be a writer. She has previously published poetry and short stories. Ms. Robertson lives in Southern California. She has four children and seven grandchildren. Although the Long Island New York trilogy, of which Welcome to Mineola is the debut novel, is based on the author's childhood, the character-driven novel is period fiction. The story encompasses the second half of the Twentieth Century evolving through a period of time which saw the advent of television, the Presidency of John F. Kennedy and even the shaking hips of Elvis Presley. The book will take the reader back to a simpler time and to the warm inner circle of a close and caring family.
