In a world that is growing more secular with lives that are increasingly engaged in consumerism, our Spirit must fight mightily to be recognized, by ourselves as well as others. What's worse, many are unaware of the dangers that engulf us. Matthew 24:33 cautions; "Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door" but many today think the Bible is merely an outdated book meant for religious zealots, rather that sixty six historical texts filled with history, and some very graphic descriptions of the future that is unfolding before us - today! In sharing my own story and trying to answer those questions that trouble all of us it is my hope to awaken the curiosity that has sparked mankind's questioning about who we are, and why we are here. All to often I hear the refrain "we cannot know the mind of God!" Perhaps, but I firmly believe that having been given intellect and curiosity, we have an obligation to try to use rational thought to get closer to understanding all the many questions that start with "why?" Faith is difficult to achieve, and harder to maintain. Even the disciples were regularly challenged in their faith, and they knew Jesus personally; they walked with Him daily. How much harder must it be for us these two thousand years later, in a world that is falling apart around us?
