Major-General Robert Clive, 1st Baron Clive, KB MP FRS (29 September 1725 - 22 November 1774), also known as Clive of India, was a British officer who established the military and political supremacy of the East India Company in Bengal. He is credited with securing India, and the wealth that followed, for the British crown. Together with Warren Hastings he was one of the key early figures in the creation of British India. He also sat as a Tory Member of Parliament in England. George Alfred Henty (8 December 1832 - 16 November 1902), was a prolific English novelist and a special correspondent. He is best known for his historical adventure stories that were popular in the late 19th century. His works include Out on the Pampas (1871), The Young Buglers (1880), Wulf the Saxon (1895) and this novel - With Clive in India (1884).
