About the Author
Gretchen Scalpi, RD, CDN, CDE is a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator with more than twenty-five years of experience as a nutrition counselor. She owns a private nutrition practice and works with clients who have a wide range of health issues. Scalpi is also a consultant for several long-term care facilities, has taught food and nutrition courses, and served as a contributing reviewer for the sixth edition of Contemporary Nutrition. She is a member of the American Dietetic Association and the American Association of Diabetes Educators.
C. Ranjan Nath, MD is the medical director of the Diabetes and Metabolism Center at Phelps Memorial Hospital. In addition, Dr. Nath teaches at New York Medical College and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Endocrinologists. He is a member of the American Diabetes Association and was named Father of the Year by that association in 2009.
