About the Editors
Dr. Michael Weinrath is the Director of the Justice Research Institute and past
Chair of the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Winnipeg. Prior to joining
the University of Winnipeg, Michael worked for 15 years in provincial corrections
in Alberta and British Columbia. He publishes actively in the area of institutional and
community corrections.
Dr. John Winterdyk is one of Canada's most widely published criminologists. He
is the former Director of the Centre for Criminology and Justice Research at MRU, and
he is also a past recipient of the "Eff ective Team Award" and the fi rst MRU recipient of
the "Distinguished Faculty Scholarship Award." He is a member of the Department of
Economics, Justice, and Policy Studies, at Mount Royal University in Calgary, AB.
