Franklin County was created in 1784 from Cumberland County which in turn was carved out of York County and prior to that Lancaster County. It lies within the Cumberland Valley in the south central portion of the state bordering Maryland. The 1639 soldiers listed within this book are in alphabetical order. Such information that the reader can discover under each soldiers mini biogarphee: service records; names of wife, children and parents; date of birth; date of death; location of burial place; date of Will along with names of beneficiaries and inventory of estate; his residence; land holdings and etc...... The author has also listed another 196 soldiers who were buried in 26 different cemeteries through out Franklin County with similar mini biographees of them also........
