About the Author
WM Tilakaratne is a Professor of Oral Pathology for last 20 years working in many reputed universities such as Queen Mary, University of London and University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka and currently at University of Malaya Malaysia. He is also a visiting Professor to many universities in different countries. He is the immediate past President of International Association of Oral Pathologists. He has co-edited one text book on Oral Medicine and Pathology which is widely used in many Dental schools in Asia. In addition, he has contributed to many chapters in text books published by publishers such as John Wiley, Springer, Elsevier and Jaypee brothers. He is also a contributor to WHO blue book on Head neck tumours 2017 and an Editor for the new edition to be published next year. He has been a teacher in Oral Pathology and Medicine for almost 30 years in different parts of the world. He is an experienced researcher who publishes on a regular basis in different subject areas in Oral Pathology, Oral Medicine and Oral Surgery. Many orations and guest lectures have been delivered by him in more than 20 countries.

Thomas George Kallarakkal is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. He is an avid teacher in the subject of Oral Maxillofacial Pathology and Oral Medicine with more than 17 years of experience. He has published widely with more than 50 publications in peer reviewed journals and has contributed to a chapter entitled "Laboratory diagnostic procedures" in the "Text Book of Oral Medicine, Oral Diagnosis and Oral Radiology" published by Elsevier India. He is a strong advocate for early detection of oral cancer and is a member of the task force for the National Oral Health Plan (NOHP), 2021-2030 of Malaysia.
