About the Author
Douglas Bercu has been involved in the shopping center business since 1984. Mr. Bercu started his career at Coldwell Banker Commercial Real Estate as a small shop leasing broker. Along the way, he worked at The Shopping Center Group and two small development companies before starting Timber Development with business partner Michael Timmons. Timber Development opened its doors in 1991 and has since developed over 34 shopping centers in over 16 states. Mr. Bercu has been married for over 17 years to his wife Lan and has two children, Joshua and Levi. Douglas Bercu is a graduate of The University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse. At UWL, Mr. Bercu was a two-year letterman in football and signed a professional football contract in 1983. He has been a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers for 33 years and is a frequent speaker at The ICSC University of Shopping Centers and The Riordan School of Development. In addition, Mr. Bercu is a licensed Real Estate broker in the State of Georgia.
