About the Author
Steve Ward's cancer, heart attack and aneurysm experiences motivated him to become more involved. He became a member of the cancer center's Patient Family Advisory Council and a Relay for Life Co-Captain. He also is a Prostate Consumer Peer Reviewer with the Congressionally Directed Mandated Research Programs, (CDMRP), under the direction of the Department of Defense, (DOD). Their responsibility is to determine how the appropriated budget will be awarded to fund future cancer research. Also a speaker of encouragement before various groups to let them know they are not alone and to share ways to better their journey. Grateful to all cancer survivors and caregivers for their collaborative perspectives from the moment of diagnosis, throughout survivorship, and preparing for end-of-life. The common theme came to be that survivorship's emotional challenge is all about how we live the journey. Thanks to the intimate and encouraging contributions of all, the result is a guide to help survivors and families grow together for a better journey.
