Joe Hurston is a long-time missionary pilot who has flown more than 2,500 missions since forming the relief organization Air Mobile Ministries in 1978. Hurston has received wide media attention for developing the Vortex portable water purifier that he delivered to relief agencies in Indonesia after the December 2004 tsunami.
