Spiller ran for Sheriff and on November 2, 1982 was elected as the 42nd Sheriff of Williamson County, Illinois. The rest is his story as he endured the times known as Bloody Vendetta to the updating of the telephone recording equipment and the presidential visit of President Ronald Reagan.
