About the Author

Sonya Dunbar, RDH, MHA, is known as the geriatric tooth fairy. She is a registered dental hygienist and TEDx and national public speaker guided by over twenty-eight years of dental experience in private practice, skilled nursing facilities, and academia. She and her husband, Gerald Dunbar, are the owners of Mobile Dental Xpress, providing comprehensive dental care to long-term care facilities. In addition, she is a serial entrepreneur and a geriatric oral health educator and trainer. A U.S. Navy veteran, she is pursuing a Ph.D. in gerontology.

Alisa G. Kauffman earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lehigh University in 1981 and a Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. She maintained a private practice in New York City until 1995, when she limited her practice to Geriatric House Call Dentistry. She was also chief dental officer at UPenn Dental Family Practices and has held other dental director positions at skilled nursing facilities. An entrepreneur, she is also the author of How to Become a House Call Dentist.
