Description

Thimbleberry is a Faeling who lives with her grandfather, Elderberry, in Silvermoor Bramble. She is about to celebrate her 80th Winter Solstice, when she becomes eligible to earn her wings. This is the time when she must present gifts to the Witch, Hazel Goodfey - if she is unable to satisfy the Witch's requests, she will be banished from the Bramble forever, in the most terrible way, and without her wings. Thimbleberry's journey begins shortly after losing her grandmother, who was always her guide and best friend. All she has left of her grandmother is a thistledown blanket and fond memories. In her wing quest, she meets the N'Fira Systrarna Oracles who each tell riddles for her to solve so she'll know what the Witch expects from her. As she discovers what gifts she should be prepared with for the Witch, she also finds that other inhabitants of the Bramble are in need, and she is the one who can help them. In her travels she meets a misunderstood hermit, an unfortunate Fool of the court, and a starving farmer with a large family. Thimbleberry faces many challenges and makes some difficult decisions, all of which put her at risk of banishment.

About the Author
Hawthorne was born and raised on an island off the coast of Maine. Coming from a long line of artists and musicians, she inherited the creative spark. As a child, Hawthorne had an imaginary friend who was a court jester named Alistair. Her family members, especially her grandmother, have always encouraged her to follow her dreams and to seek fairies and magic in nature. During her young adulthood, she experienced the glee of traveling around the UK and Ireland, exploring castles and ruins, and has performed twice on the Buxton Opera House stage. Hawthorne is a self-taught sculptor and has transformed the hobby into a joyful dollmaking career, and her creations are adored worldwide. She now resides on the midcoast of Maine with her husband and their children, where their home is filled daily with music and art.
