Description

This book was originally published in 2004, now it has been expanded with three more census years through 1901. In republishing this piece it was felt that there needed to be an expansion upon the work since the earlier volume had attracted such positive feedback. The first volume identified approximately 2,000 people with close to 4,100 entries. This new edition contains approximately 10,000 entries listing names, sex, relationship to head of household and age. You will find a Table of Contents, new full name index and an expanded Introduction.

The new Introduction and study will give you several different situational opinions from numerous historical and cultural experts along with their life experiences while living with the Blackfeet (mostly United States) or Blackfoot (mostly Canada) tribes so you can study the circumstances involved in their world. Also you will find a few suggestions as to where you can search for your family records and read where the sources were located through footnotes.

Within the front matter of this book you will find a copy of one of the original treaties (Treaty of Fort Laramie, 1855, or also known as the Treaty of Lame Bull, a Blackfoot chief), covering several Plains tribes. This treaty was to be one of many which would eventually greatly reduce tribal lands over the years. You will not only see copies of the original handwritten treaty but a legible transcription, so you can learn about all parties involved. Over 2,000 persons with comprehensive index; transcribed from National Archive film.
