About the Author
Clement Clarke Moore (1779-1863) was an American writer and professor of Oriental and Greek literature. He is best-known for the classic Christmas poem 'A Visit from St. Nicholas' (later known as 'Twas the Night Before Christmas'), which was first published anonymously in 1823.
Other featured poets include Thomas Hardy, Ralph Waldo Emerson, William Wordsworth, Robert Louis Stevenson, Emily Brontë, William Shakespeare, John Keats, Walt Whiteman and Emily Dickinson. Arthur Rackham (1867-1939) was a leading English illustrator celebrated for his work on children's books, particularly fairy tales. His whimsical and quirky designs including watercolours and line drawings have become synonymous with many of literature's greatest works such as The Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm and 'The Night Before Christmas'.
